The components of the park of Belvedere   Such Kobba, the doors, the casino, the lake, the pony club represent its monuments of attraction in divergent matters (historical, architectural, artistic, ecological…).

  • Zoological gardens

The zoological gardens of the town of Tunis extend on 13 ha.
Located in the middle same of Belvedere, this space which shelters more than 160 species of animals, is also remarkable by its vegetable cover and its monumental trees. It accommodates approximately 1 school complex, visitor million per annum, family, tourist, etc the zoo shelters an emblematic monument of Moslem architecture: Mida of Ettrouc souk with its white marble columns, exposed to Paris during the World Fair of 1900 then installed to the zoo on the place of the fountain.

  • The lake

With a surface of 3500 m2 and a depth of 1 m, this lake artificial of fresh water accommodates in winter several hundreds of migrating wild ducks. It is famous for its small island which one reaches by means of a footbridge, and where the “Coffee of the lake” as well as a small horse-gear is.

Terrace of the coffee, in the shade of palm trees and of the caroubiers, one can admire the birds of the lake, a tropical atoll, the fountains, and of course the superb vegetation of the site.

  • Doors
    The Belvedere has two majestic wrought iron doors. Nearest to the medina first door is named and is located opposite the avenue of the United States. The second door gives on the Pasteur place. They were the two only access roads to the park during its creation.

    • The kobba

    This construction was built at the 17th century, in the middle of the garden of the Palate of the Rose of Manouba by Hammouda Pasha. Known for the smoothness of its stuccos and its ceramics, this house with the five cupolas is regarded as a masterpiece of Tunisian architecture.

    Its air grace, its broad openings were worth to him the name of Kobbet El Haoua (the cupola of the air).

    At the beginning of the 20th century, Kobba was dismounts and transported in Paris for the participation of Tunisia in the World Fair of 1900.

    • The casino

    The casino was built at the same time as the park in a style néo-Moorish, with blind arcade and moucharabieh.

    Musical spectacles and concerts were organized in this space. In its hours of glory, it received large Tél.s singers that Farid El Atrach, Jacques Brel, etc

    From 1977 to 1989 it accommodated the Center of alive arts of the View-point which exposed works of famous painters like Picasso, Miro, etc This Center is currently located at the level of the second door of the park. Since 1989, the casino became a circle of the officers.

    • The plate

    The culminating point of the park located at 80 m is spared in rest area and spaces of plays. Of this vast platform, there is a single panoramic sight at the same time on the city, on the gulf of Tunis, as on the silhouettes characteristic of Jebel Boukornine, Jebel Ressas and Jebel Zoghouan.

    • The Poney club

    Located in a large clearing in the middle same of the park, the Pony club joins together prestigious races of horses. The pony of the Shetland of course, but also a Tunisian variety: the pony of Mogod, beside robust Arab-bores.

    • The Health circuit

    • The Tunnels
