Old persons

The elderly enjoy a particular consideration within the framework of the social action of the municipality of Tunis, an affected budget is established to this cause , besides a medical assistance is devoted to him and a summer camp is programmed to him.

Social action to the benefit of the old persons

The objectives:

The municipal action aims to assist and to protect the old persons and especially the needy persons and those who are without support .
It tries to help them and to encourage them to remain in their natural environment.

Targeted categories:

The elderly inhabitants of the city and especially the inhabitants of Oukalas who were installed in new districts (Douar Hicher, Cité El Mechtel in Agba, Sidi Hssine, El Mourouj,…)
Widows of the municipal employees.
Elderly having worked in the municipal building sites and not profiting from social coverage.

Interventions:
Municipal interventions:

Financial aids: fixed aids (30 D with 40 D monthly) granted 80% of the whole of 543 recipients. They are presented, in the families, with the elderly not being able to move and this through the routing of this help until the places of residence of the recipients.

Housing: within the framework of the Project of Oukalas, residences devoted to the elderly were carried out to make it possible to these people to live under better sanitary arrangements within their families and close to their neighbors (120 housing units distributed on the cities of Khaled Ben Walid at Douar Hicher, Cité El Mechtel in Agba and July 25th with Sidi Hassine).

The granting of seats to associations of elderly: the seat of the club of the pensioners to the street Sidi Béchir.

The granting of subsidies to associations:
the municipality offers each year a subsidy of 3000 dinars to the association of retarded.

Interventions through associations:

The association of the productive family and the social action supply of financial aids or others with nearly 200 elderly.

The setting of five households at the disposal of elderly (with an annual envelope of 6000 dinars).
Supply of the drugs to the elderly needy.

The association of assistance to the elderly of Manoba Unit of help of the elderly: Itvisits and takes care of the elderly on their premises. It works, in a general , to follow their social & sanitary arrangements…

The association of the pensioners It organizes the world day of the elderly (October 1st of each year)
It organizes a summer camp in collaboration with the municipality.

The Tunisian association of social protection helps 15 elderly periodically to face the needs for the life (drugs, food,…)
