Control and sanitary inspection

The municipal services in charge of the medical inspection carries out regularly various missions of control and inspection concerning 40,000 establishments open to the public, 26 permanent municipal markets, the municipals slaughter-house and 8,000 ranked establishments.

Establishments open to the public:
As encouragement, the Municipality of Tunis decrees an annual price with the best establishments open to the public, at the time of the national day of cleanliness and environmental protection. The municipal services of control also evaluate the hygienic and epidemiologic situation. It acts:

To analyze the evolution of the various contaminations of the foodstuffs (pathogenic germs), in order to supplement the criteria of evaluation of the levels of hygiene reached in the various sectors and to release the degree of efficiency of the measurements taken by the service of hygiene.
To ensure the follow-up of the application of the new regulations concerning the establishments open to the public, as the promulgation of the amendments.
To ensure the follow-up of the regulation relating to the equipment necessary to the exercise of the various activities like for its effective application.
To ensure a methodical follow-up of all the cases of food poisoning (epidemiological investigations) to identify the causal agent, accused food, the nature of the made error, in order to join together the maximum of epidemiologic data on the frequency and gravity of the dangers in potentially progress.

The control of the collective dwelling:
The activity of the municipal services of control concentrates on :

The forwarding of the warnings exhorting the inhabitants concerned to constitute syndics.
The framing of the syndics.
The imposition of fines to the inhabitants of the buildings premeditating the pollution or the damage of the common installations. Obligatory designation of syndics, in particular for certain buildings located with the hyper center and concerned with the application of the pilot plan of cleanliness.
The forwarding of decisions of restoration to the owners who failed in the obligation to maintain their buildings.

Pilot experiments of cleanliness:
The contribution of the municipal services of control lies in:

Identification of the problems preventing the attack of a satisfactory threshold of cleanliness.
The achievement of the activities of traditional cleanliness (cleaning of the streets, removals of household waste and others) and vertical (white-washing of the frontages and an increased interest to embellish…).
The maintenance of the pavements and the roadway system, the upgrade of the establishments open to the public and supply of the containers.
The implication of the inhabitants by the means of the direct contact.
The catch of repressive measurements against the contraveners (warnings, fines, decisions of closing .....).
