The activities of the laboratory are focused on a key objective: guarantee of food safety and consequently the protection of the health of the consumers.
For the 2001, pas year less than 7,315 samples were analyzed and which come from establishments open to the public: municipal restaurants, canteens, butcheries, markets….
Analyzes are also carried out for: dispensary of disease prevention of the venereal diseases (1974 searchs for gonococci).


The actions undertaken by the laboratory target

• Identification and the enumeration of the bacteria in the food products of various origins intended for human consumption (coliformes, streptococci, staphilococca, salmonellas, anaerobes…)
  
• Micro- biological analysis allowing to know the sources of initial contaminations of foodstuffs throughout the chain of transformation: transport, storage and put at the consumption of the food product.
• Establishment of a database on the medical condition of the foodstuffs.
• Openings of the epidemiological investigations on the contamination of food.
• Micro- biological water analyzes (water of well, swimming pools, drinking water …)
• Identification of the germs of collective food toxic-infections .
• Systematic tracking of the sexually transmitted diseases .
• Chemical analyzes, such as tests of the A.B.V.T (to determine the state of freshness of fish) are in the course of implementation.
