International Cooperation

With its ancient history and privileged geographical location, the City of Tunis has established cooperation and twinning relations with numerous world metropolises and is an active member of major urban networks.

The Foreign Relations Office reflects Tunisia's strategic choices, coordinating bilateral and multilateral projects within its areas of expertise.

The Foreign Relations Office is responsible for:
  • Establishing links with contact officers in twin cities linked by cooperation agreements with the City of Tunis, and with national, regional, and international organizations of cities and local authorities.
  • Setting up cooperation programs with cities having cooperation relations with the City of Tunis and monitoring their implementation.
  • Searching for fruitful cooperation opportunities in bilateral or multilateral fields and realizing them in coordination with local and national services.
  • Striving to strengthen the position of the City of Tunis within regional and international organizations of cities.
  • Searching for available funding sources dedicated to local authorities at both regional and international levels.
  • Organizing international meetings hosted by the City of Tunis.
  • Coordinating with the information unit regarding the media coverage of local, national, regional, and international activities related to international cooperation specific to the City of Tunis.
  • Coordinating with foreign diplomatic missions in Tunisia whenever necessary.
  • Managing official assignments and missions abroad.
