Cleanliness of the City  

Cleanliness is the principal priority of the municipal action. It is of an major importance in the approach of management of the daily newspaper of the inhabitants....
  • Washing of the avenues, the pavements and the places

Materials and machines used: 9 tankers are reserved for the washing and the sprinkling of the places, the avenues and the streets of the center town during the night. This operation is carried out regularly for all the municipal districts especially during the festivities and official visits.

  • The maintenance of the markets :
It is daily assured for all the municipal markets Tunis, just like the operation of washing daily assured for the center town and one or twice per week for the remainder the markets.
  • Removal of the corpses of animals :
This operation lies within the scope of the removal of the household refuse; they is the corpses of animals of small size (dogs, cats). For the corpses of animals of big sizes, one uses the large means (bulldozer and truck).
  • Maintenance of the containers :

The washing of the containers is done one or twice per month, either automatically using a truck reserved for this purpose, or manually inside certain warehouses of cleanliness located to the various municipal districts.

  • Maintenance of the materials and machines of cleanliness :
Two large warehouses are affected safe from materials of cleanliness, one in the old slaughter-house, the other in Bab Laâsel.
In each warehouse, there exists a permanent team which takes care of the maintenance of these materials and machines like two stations of washing.
Moreover, each municipal district has at least a warehouse intended safe from materials placed at its disposal and equipped with a station of washing.
  • Exceptional cleanliness campaigns :
Concurrently to its day laborers activities of removal of the household refuse and sweeping of the streets and avenues, of the cleanliness campaigns are carried out regularly in collaboration with the local authorities.
For this purpose, average materials and human important are implemented.during spring (to eliminate the hearths from reproduction of the larvae of mosquitos)
  • during the summer removal of rubble and waste of construction and pulling up of dry weeds, in order to avoid the fire hazards and to preserve the urban esthetic.
  • during the winter for the prevention of the floods
  • at the time of the festivals and demonstrations
  • Industrial parks :
The Municipality of Tunis takes care of the cleanliness of the industrial parks, and this, in collaboration with the districts concerned. It also carries out the removal of the waste generated by the line of business in commercial, industrial and professional matter (subscription-based service by convention).

  • Removal of the carcanes of the vehicles :

A statement of the various carcasses of cars and vehicles abandoned on the public highway are established monthly, a truck recently acquired crane is affected for this purpose.
  • Opening of new discharges to receive spoil of démolution :

The Municipality of Tunis opened new discharges to receive consecutive waste of construction to the urban great strides which the town of Tunis makes and this, in the sites hereafter :

  • banks of the northern Lake .
  • the city Ennour (Kabaria District), receiving daily nearly 600 m3 of waste
  • career of El Mourouj 2 (Kabaria District) .
  • in Borj Ali Raïs
