- Until 1933, Dar El Jeld was initially the Dwelling house remains of the Khalsi family; it was arranged in hotel in 1948.

- From the Seventies, the incomes of the hotel did not make it possible any more to ensure the maintenance of the building. They are only into 1986 that the heirs decided to undertake the restoration of the buildings in order to install a restaurant there where, with the sumptuousness of architecture and decoration, is combined the refinement of the kitchen tunisoise given to the last style. The task was large: it was necessary to restore the original plan by removing the transformations generated by the use of the residence as hotel. It was also necessary to consolidate the structure of the building: all thoroughly was deposited and rested after works of consolidation and of technical installation as in particular the introduction of a system of a generalized air-conditioning. This work lasted of March 1987 to September 1989, since the institution did not show its self unworthy of all this efforts since it is also serving the cause of the development of the inheritance.
