Dar Ben Achour
The house goes back to the 11th H/17th c. AD and has undergone numerous transformations. It is located in a residential neighbourhood of the city (Pasha neighbourhood) and carries the name of the Ben Achour family .

    The house goes back to the 11th H/17th c. AD and has undergone numerous transformations. It is located in a residential neighbourhood of the city (Pasha neighbourhood) and carries the name of the Ben Achour family. This family of Andalusan origins has been in Tunisia since the 11th H/17th c. AD. Sheikh Mohamed al-Aziz Bouattour, Prime Minister from 1300 to 1325 H (1882-1907 AD) lived there until he gave it to his grandson Sheikh Mohamed Tahar Ben Achour. The house was bought by the City of Tunis in 1970's. It became the Tunis Public Library in 1983 and since 1990 the Tunisian Association : Monuments and Sites uses it for its activities.
