This mosque is located in front of Dar Hussein (Bab Menara). According to some it was built by Prince Ahmed ibn Khourassen in the 6th H/12th c. AD. Its features are :

– Its mihrab topped by a quarter-sphere cupola in the shape of a shell with its ribs on the outside;

– Its eastern facade looking on the plaza has a series of arches topped by voussoirs;

– The square minaret built without its own base in the north-eastern corner of the building is an addition of an Hispanic-Tunisian style going back to the reign of Mohamed Dey in 1032 H/1622 AD. It is at that period that the mosque became affiliated with the Hanefite rite.
