This mausoleum, mentioned in M. A. Ben Achour's book Categories of Tunis Society in the Second Half of the 19th Century, was founded and financed by Sheikh Ahmed al-Bahi to be his burial place. It has rooms for house students attending Azzitouna as well as a library. The Sheikh designated much of his property as habous so that his descendants can use it to keep his Foundation in operation. Currently the building is used as a public library and, at the initiative of living members of the family, as a space for cultural and educational activities.
