Located at the old Place with the Sheep, become Place of the Leader (opposite Sidi Kacem Zaliji), this house called Dar Maâkal Az-Zaïm, was the residence of the Habib Bourguiba Leader throughout the period of the national fight and it is there that it was stopped twice: April 9th, 1938 as well as on January 18th, 1952. The stage at summer inhabited, during the years 1940, by the leader Dr. Mahmoud Al Matri. This house became, after independence, a Museum of the History of the National movement. The ground floor is currently preserved in its initial state with its furniture: of origin and photographs fixed on the wall. The documents reporting the adventures of the national fight of 1938 to 1952 are exposed on the floor.
