  • Historical:

This Zaouia is located in the street bearing its name. Sidi Mehrez Ibn Khalef surmonné “Owner of the Medina”, born in Ariana (northern suburbs of Tunis), in the middle of Xe century, was a pious character known for his generosity and its devotion. It passed its life to teach Coran, from where its title “Al-muaddib”. Being malékite, it defended this rite lasting the period fatimide, of obedience Shiite. He set up as a defender of the Jews which he placed, close to its residence, inside the walls of the Medina, in district “Al Hara”.
