The Tunisian Symphony orchestra was created in 1969 by the ministry for the Culture. With its beginnings the orchestra must have recourse to some Bulgarian professor-instrumentalists and a French conductor.
The purpose of the creation of this troop was to have access to the masterpieces of the international classical music. The orchestra invites soloists and conductors of international repute to take part in the one in its monthly concerts which are given either to the municipal theater of the town of Tunis or in one of the cultural centres of the capital.
It is about a program which is composed of two essential shutters:
To present compositions of Tunisian music in the form of symphonic works.
The repetitions of the orchestra take place in the room Ahmed Al-Wafi which is in the room of the Higher institute of music. The orchestra is characterized by the regularity as of its repetitions like by the experiment from its musicians and especially by the respect from the calendar from its concerts which is announced at the beginning of each season as that is of habit in most capitals of the world.
